4 Don'ts and 4 Musts for Pearl Care
4 Don’ts
1. Don't touch the pearl necklace often. As an organic gemstone, pearl is mainly composed of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). The oil on human skin will adhere to the pearl when touching it, and make it yellow. This will affect the luster and brightness of the pearl.
2. Don’t wear pearl jewelry when cooking. The surface of the pearl is covered with many tiny pores. When you wear pearl jewelry, the fumes and vapor in the kitchen will enter the pores of the pearl. The gloss of the pearl surface will be slowly eroded and become dull.
3. Don't clean your pearl jewelry with water. Because the water will enter the small pores of the pearl, difficultly to wipe dry, leaving pollutants in the pores and damaging the skin of the pearl.
4. Try to avoid exposure to pearl jewelry in the sun. Pearls contain a certain amount of moisture. When wearing and storing pearls, try to avoid direct sunlight.
4 Musts
1. The pearls must be washed with wet flannelette. When we want to clean and maintain the pearl jewelry, we only need to prepare a flannelette, wet it with pure water, and then wipe the surface of the pearl with gentle force.
2. Pearl jewelry must be stored separately. Putting jewelry in the same jewelry box will make other jewelry scratch the surface of the pearl. So the pearl jewelry is best stored separately with a fleece to protect the pearl skin and keep it in a smooth state.
3. The pearl must breathe into the air. Pearl needs to breathe air, so we need to take it out from time to time to wear it and let it breathe fresh air.
4. Pearl jewelry must be worn after makeup. Any skin care products, perfumes and cosmetics will have an erosion effect on pearls. Therefore, it is recommended that ladies wear pearl jewelry after makeup.
